Very rare Swedish map of America from the work “Kort beskrifning om provincien Nya Swerige uti America : som nu fortjden af the Engelske kallas Pensylvania.”, by Tomas Campanius Holm. Published in Stockholm, Sweden, 1702. The work was the first printed account of the colony of New Sweden on the Delaware River, and was based on the records of Johannes Campanius, Tomas Holm’s grandfather. Johannes Campanius was chaplain of the Swedish colony from 1643 to 1648.

The map depicts California as an island, and includes only few place names, among other, New Sweden (N. Suecia), New Denmark (Nova Dania), Mont Royal (Montreal), N. Anglia (New England), Virginia, and Florida
